The 80-acre site in the center of Topeka now known as the Kansas Expocentre has a long history of use for activities related to agriculture, farming, exhibitions, education and entertainment. Over 600 events are typically booked each year.

The Topeka Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1946 by Dr. Everett Fetter, Chairman of the Department of Music at Washburn University. The Symphony has come to host a full seven-concert series, including classical, pops, holiday, and educational concerts.
