In 2006, the IMA celebrated a grand reopening of a massive expansion of the facilities, making the Indianapolis Museum of Art one of the most highly regarded art museums in the country. With a $30 million acquisition of 101 paintings and prints by Paul Gauguin on display, the Indianapolis Museum of Art has very impressive collection of artwork. The museum also houses collections of neo-impressionist and Asian art as well other works from all over the world. Plan plenty of time when visiting this attraction. The art collection is extensive and there are always other activities underway, such as movie screenings. The grounds are spectacular, well worth exploring for hours.
