James Cook Museum |

The Museum is located in the former convent of St Mary, erected 1887-1889. The existence of this large masonry building is indicative of Cooktown's importance during the Palmer gold mining boom. The collection includes an Endeavour cannon, one of six jettisoned by James Cook.

Stock Exchange Arcade |

The Assay room forms part of the Stock Exchange, a grand masonry building on the main street of Charters Tower. It was built as The Royal Arcade in 1888. The Stock Exchange occupied the building in 1890. The Assay room is at the rear and contains items associated with mining history.

The Hou Wang Temple |

The Hou Wang Temple is the only remaining structure of the original Chinatown. It is highly significant as a rare example of temples in overseas Chinese settlements. This unique building houses elaborate carvings and has an intriguing past.

The Royal Bull's Head Inn |

The Bulls Head Inn was built in 1847. The present building is the extension built in 1859. The timber and brick nog construction is unusual in Queensland. The museum is decorated according to evidence of finishes from the 1870's.

Wolston House |

|
Wolston House is an early stone and brick farmhouse built in 1852 but substantially extended in the 1860's. The layout of this early farm house, one room width linked by verandahs with cellars and dairy underneath, is unusual in Queensland.
